In 2015, for the international iCan contest, we developed a pollution tracker for bicycles, called BeMap: Bicycle Environmental Mapping device. Our prototype integrates sensors for CO and NO2, as well as temperature and humidity.
After being awarded the First Prize in the Swiss contest and Second Prize in the international contest (IEEE Transducers, Alaska 2015), thanks to the media attention in Switzerland, we got noticed by Swissnex Brazil. With them, we co-organized Mapping Parties in Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro in a super-amazing atmosphere!
The BeMap device is a bike lamp featuring GPS tracking and sensors measuring pollution along your cycling route. Cyclists can gather data about their surroundings in order to chose their path to work according to pollution values.
